Division A

Rules for the 2008 Season

 

 

 

1.    The focus of the A division is top instruct the players in the basic fundamentals of the game,

        instill confidence and most of all have fun!

 

2.    Coaches will pitch the entire season. Batters with 2 strikes will get 4 pitches to hit before being

        ruled out. There are NO walks. Coaches or managers will umpire from behind the

        pitcher (pitcher/coach may also umpire).

 

3.    6 inning games. A new inning will not begin past 7:45pm during the week; time limits will be

        followed on the weekends.

 

4.    There will be a continuous batting order. All players will bat regardless of playing in the field or not.

 

5.    Four (4), outfielders will be used.

 

6.    Players must play at least 3 defensive innings in the field during a full 6-inning game. Players shall

        not sit more than 2 consecutive innings.

 

7.    A six (6) run rule will be in effect. (Innings will end after 6 runs have scored regardless of the

        # of outs).

 

8.    Base coaches will be adults. (To add additional instruction to the players on base). A coach may roam

        the field for spot instruction.

 

9.    Players can advance one (1) base on a steal or passed ball at their own risk until they reach third

        base. (The pitch must be a catch-able ball).

 

10.  No advance from third base on a passed ball. The runner must be hit in.

 

11.  This level is intended to instruct the players and instill confidence.

 

12.  Managers will make out a snack stand schedule work assignment list. (1 parent from each team), list

        shall be provided prior to the first game.

 

13.  Field preparation will be the responsibility of both teams as well as raking home plate and the

        pitchers mound after your games. (See field duties sheet).

 

14.  Home team is responsible for providing a press release for the game. Email the score to your

        league director for purpose of keeping the standings.

 

15.  Coaches decide on rainouts. Consider filed conditions and safety when deciding. Report cancellations

        to the league director so game can be rescheduled.

 

There will be NO negotiation of the rules before or during the game. 

**Make sure ALL players are rotated between the infield and outfield during the game.

**Make sure ALL players get the required playing time.
